Description
Hypotonic solution intended for instillation on the ocular surface or contact lenses, particularly in the presence of “dry eye” symptoms.
Thanks to the high content of sodium hyaluronate (0.4%) and the presence of salts such as magnesium and potassium, Oftaial Plus moistens and lubricates the ocular surface and reduces the risk of instability of the tear film. Furthermore, the peculiarity of the composition of Oftaial Plus consists in the presence of taurine, the physiologically most abundant amino acid in the tear fluid and in general in all the tissues of the anterior segment of the eye. Several studies demonstrate that the presence of taurine increases the percentage of cells that survive in conditions of hyperosmolarity. Hyperosmolarity, at the level of the tear film, is associated with the onset of “dry eye” symptoms.
Therefore Oftaial Plus, although not having a pharmacological effect, protects the corneal epithelium from possible damage caused by particular conditions that can cause the onset of the so-called "dry eye", such as:
- adverse climatic and environmental conditions such as wind, cold, sun, saltiness, air conditioning, smoke, smog or fine dust;
- particular conditions of ophthalmic stress due to the use of contact lenses or prolonged work at video terminals or at the microscope.
The lubricating action is also useful when, in particular physical conditions or following the intake of certain drugs, tearing is reduced, such as during menopause and during diabetes treatment.
Furthermore, for contact lens wearers, Oftaial Plus allows to lubricate and hydrate the lens itself to facilitate its application or removal, contributing to a feeling of comfort during the day.
How to use
Oftaial Plus should be dosed individually according to your condition and based on the recommendations of your eye doctor. In general, instill 1-2 drops of the solution into the conjunctival sac of each eye when needed, even several times a day.
For use on contact lenses: instill one drop on each lens at the time of application or removal. Repeat if necessary, even several times a day.
Detach a single vial from the strip.
To open the bottle, remove the top flap by rotating it, taking care to place it on a clean surface so that it can be reused to close the bottle again.
Instill 1-2 drops of Oftaial Plus into the conjunctival sac of each eye, letting them fall from above.
Close the bottle by inserting the flap immediately after use.
For use on contact lenses: instill one drop of Oftaial Plus into the cavity of each lens at the time of application or removal.

Warnings
Do not use in case of hypersensitivity to the components or other closely related chemical substances.
Oftaial Plus is for external use only.
Oftaial Plus should not be used immediately before the administration of medicinal products for curative purposes, and within ten minutes after the application of any topical pharmacological therapy.
To reduce the risk of contamination during use, it is advisable to open the aluminum pouch only if the product is to be used immediately after use.
Each vial is for use by one person only.
Avoid allowing the tip of the vial to come into direct contact with your fingers, eye, contact lens, or any other surface.
Also avoid allowing the tip of the vial to come into contact with dirt or dust.
In rare cases, slight blurring of vision has been observed upon instillation, which is due to the density of the solution. This sensation, however, disappears very quickly.
In rare cases, intolerance (burning sensation and/or irritation) may occur, but this does not have any consequences and does not require treatment modification. However, it is advisable to contact your eye doctor if the symptoms persist.
Following the instructions in the package leaflet reduces the risk of side effects.
Do not use the solution after the expiry date indicated on the package.
