La dose iniziale è di 1/2 cucchiaino (circa 20 grammi) e può essere aumentata gradatamente a seconda dell'età del bambino.
La Pastina Mellin richiede una cottura di 4 minuti circa, a seconda della densità e della consistenza preferite dal bambino.
In funzione del tipo di pappa desiderata, la Pastina Mellin può essere cotta in: acqua, brodo vegetale o brodo di carne.
