ORAL SPRAY
Description
Karos oral spray is a hyaluronic acid-based solution to be sprayed into the throat in case of oropharyngeal mucosal inflammation (inflammation of the oral and pharyngeal mucosa).
Hyaluronic acid, thanks to its viscoelastic and physical properties, forms a protective barrier on the inflamed oropharyngeal mucosa; in fact, being a hydrophilic molecule, it is able to absorb water up to 1000 times its volume, forming almost a gel.
For this reason, the nebulization of Karos oral spray based on hyaluronic acid, directly into the aqueous environment of the oropharyngeal area, allows the formation of a thin film. This film acts as a protective barrier for the pharyngolaryngeal mucosa in the case of mucosal inflammation caused by non-erosive gastroesophageal reflux disease (NERD) or by upper respiratory tract conditions, such as pharyngitis and laryngitis, both in the acute and chronic phase. Reflux disease is a remarkably widespread pathology, especially in the Western world and is closely linked to lifestyle and eating habits.
The reflux of gastric juices contained in the stomach into the oral cavity, specifically into the pharynx and larynx, is recognized within the category of non-erosive gastroesophageal reflux disease (NERD) and is defined as pharyngo-laryngeal reflux disease, often abbreviated as LPR (Laryngo-Pnaryngeal Reflux).
In this disease, the gastroduodenal contents refluxed from the stomach overcome the anti-reflux barrier of the upper esophageal sphincter and spread into the aqueous environment typical of the oropharyngeal area, irritating and inflaming the mucosa of the pharyngolaryngeal region and causing various symptoms, such as: dysphonia, need to clear the throat, need to clear the throat, excess mucus in the throat, the sensation of postnasal drip, chronic cough, globus pharyngeus with foreign body sensation.
The same symptoms can be associated with mucosal inflammation due to upper respiratory tract conditions; also in this case the protective barrier created by the hyaluronic acid present in Karos oral spray alleviates the painful symptoms of pharyngitis and laryngitis, acute or chronic, and furthermore, thanks to the ability of hyaluronic acid to attract and retain water, it also allows a fluidifying action of the mucus.
Karos oral spray is indicated in the treatment of symptoms related to oropharyngeal mucosal inflammation (inflammation of the mucosa of the mouth up to the pharynx) such as: inflammation of the vocal cords with and without dysphonia (voice disorders), hoarseness, need to clear the throat, need to clear the throat, excess mucus in the throat, sensation of postnasal drip, chronic cough, globus pharyngeus with foreign body sensation (sensation of constriction or foreign body in the throat), when these disorders are related to pharyngo-langeal reflux disease (RFL) or to upper respiratory tract conditions such as pharyngitis and laryngitis, both in the acute and chronic phase.
Karos oral spray is in addition to and does not replace other therapeutic treatments that may be prescribed to patients.
