Description
Quatrefolic is a dietary supplement containing folic acid, vitamins, and minerals. Folic acid contributes to maternal tissue growth during pregnancy and normal hematopoiesis, iron promotes normal red blood cell and hemoglobin formation, vitamin B1 contributes to normal energy metabolism, vitamin B2 contributes to the maintenance of normal red blood cells, and vitamins B6 and B12 contribute to normal red blood cell formation. Folic acid supplementation increases maternal folate status. Low maternal folate status is a risk factor for the development of neural tube defects in the fetus. The target population is women of childbearing age, and the beneficial effect is obtained with a daily supplemental intake of 400 mcg of folic acid for at least one month before and up to three months after conception.
