ANEROID SPHYGMOMANOMETER SOFARMAPIU'
ANEROID SPHYGMOMANOMETER SOFARMAPIU'
Description
Aneroid sphygmomanometer to determine systolic and diastolic blood pressure in humans.
Instructions for use
Before starting a measurement, ensure that the patient rests for at least five minutes, has back and foot support, and does not cross their legs.
Passively support the lower part of the patient's arm and keep the arm elevated at heart level.
The procedure should take place in a quiet environment, without talking.
Failure to adhere to these recommendations may result in inaccurate blood pressure measurements.
Select the appropriate cuff size for the circumference of the patient's arm.
The applicable range, in centimeters, is printed on each cuff.
Wrap the cuff around the arm with the artery index positioned over the brachial artery and the lower edge of the cuff 2.5 cm above the elbow crease.
Inflate the cuff quickly to a level 30 mmHg above the estimated (or palpated) systolic pressure.
Partially open the valve to allow deflation at a rate of 2 or 3 mmHg per second. As the pressure decreases, note the systolic and relevant diastolic pressure with the stethoscope.
Quickly release the remaining pressure and immediately record the measurements.
After at least 30 seconds, repeat the previous steps for a second reading.
Warnings
Do not leave the blood pressure cuff on the patient for more than 10 minutes if inflated above 10 mmHg.
This may cause discomfort to the patient, disturb blood circulation, and contribute to peripheral nerve injury.
Use the cuff only when the visible artery index falls within the range indicated on the cuff; otherwise, inaccurate readings may occur.
Do not apply the cuff to areas of the patient with delicate or damaged skin.
Frequently check that the cuff site is not irritated.
Leave space for 1-2 fingers between the patient and the cuff.
Do not apply the cuff to limbs used for intravenous infusion.
Minimize movements of the cuff and limb during readings.
Ensure that all connection points are airtight before use.
Maintenance and cleaning
Manometer, bulb, and aneroid valve: clean the aneroid gauge, bulb, and valve with a slightly damp cloth or an alcohol swab.
Reusable one-piece cuff:
- Clean with a solution of water and mild detergent. Rinse.
- Clean with a solution of water and 0.5% bleach. Rinse.
- Clean with 70% isopropyl alcohol.
- Wash with mild detergent in warm water (maximum 60°C), normal wash cycle.
Two-tube bladder and cuff: safely clean the cuffs with a damp cloth or wash in warm water (maximum 60°C) with mild detergent.
Before washing the cuff:
