Description

IRIS EVOLUTION GLUCOMETER + 10 TEST STRIPS + 10 FINGERPRINT LANCETS

IRIS Evolution

Description
Blood glucose monitoring system.
The IRIS Evolution system is designed to quantitatively measure the glucose concentration in capillary whole blood. The IRIS Evo blood glucose test is based on the measurement of the electrical current caused by the reaction of glucose with the reagents on the electrode of the test strip. The blood sample is drawn into the tip of the test strip by capillary action. The glucose in the sample reacts with the enzyme and the mediator. Electrons are generated and produce a current that is directly proportional to the glucose concentration in the sample. After the reaction process, the glucose concentration in the sample is displayed. The instrument is calibrated to display plasma concentration results.
The IRIS Evolution system is intended for external use (in vitro diagnostic use) by people with diabetes and by healthcare and clinical professionals to effectively monitor diabetes. The system should not be used for diabetes diagnosis.

Perform a test
Preparing the test strips
1. Wash and dry your hands before testing.
2. Remove a test strip from the vial. Close the vial cap tightly immediately after removing the test strip.
3. Insert the test strip into the meter in the direction of the arrows. The meter turns on after a beep.
4. A symbol with a test strip with a flashing blood drop appears to indicate that the meter is ready for testing.
Note: Check the expiration date on the test strip vial. IRIS Evo test strips have a shelf life of 6 months after opening the vial. Write the opening date on the vial label when you first open it. Make sure the strips are not damaged. Before testing, clean the test site with an alcohol pad or soapy water. Wash your hands thoroughly in warm water to increase blood flow if necessary. Then dry your hands and the blood sampling site thoroughly. Make sure there is no cream or lotion on the blood sampling site.
Preparing the lancing device
To obtain a fingertip blood sample, adjust the depth of penetration to reduce pain. The clear terminal (AST alternate sites) is not required to obtain a fingertip blood sample.
1. Unscrew the lancing device cover from the lancing device body. Insert a sterile lancet into the lancing device and push it until the lancet stops completely in the device.
2. Hold the lancet firmly in the lancing device and twist the safety tab of the lancet, then pull the safety tab off the lancet.
Keep the safety tab for later disposal of the used lancet.
3. Carefully screw the cover onto the lancing device. Avoid contact with the exposed needle. Make sure the cover is completely screwed onto the device.
4. Adjust the penetration depth by rotating the lancing device cover. There are a total of 5 penetration depth settings. To reduce pain, use the lowest setting that produces an adequate drop of blood.
Adjustment:
- 0 and 1 for delicate skin;
- 2 and 3 for normal skin;
- 4 and 5 For calloused or thick skin.
Note: Increased pressure of the lancing device on the finger also increases the puncture depth.
Obtain a drop of blood and perform the test
1. Pull back the terminal to charge the lancing device. The device will make a clicking sound; the release button will change color to orange to indicate that the lancing device is now charged and ready to obtain a drop of blood.
2. Press the lancing device as shown in the picture. Push the release button to prick your fingertip. You should hear a click when the lancing device is activated.
3. Gently massage the finger from the base to the tip to obtain the desired blood volume. Avoid touching the drop of blood. To reduce pain, it is recommended to perform the puncture on the side of the finger. Perform the test immediately after obtaining a required amount of blood.
4. Immediately touch the tip of the test strip to the drop of blood. The blood will be drawn into the test strip through the tip.
Make sure the test strip channel is completely filled.
Hold the tip of the test strip in contact with the drop of blood until the meter beeps.
Note: If the blood sample does not fill the test strip channel, do not add a second drop. Discard the used test strip and retest using a new test strip.
5. The meter will begin a 5-second countdown. A beep will sound when the test is complete and the result will be displayed on the meter display.
Disposal of used test strips
You can manually remove the used test strip after testing. The meter will automatically turn off after a beep.

Expected results and ideal values for diabetes
Blood glucose levels vary depending on food intake, medication dosages, health, stress, or exercise. It is ideal to check blood glucose levels and compare them to normal results (for non-diabetic patients).
ATTENTION
- If your blood glucose reading is less than 50 mg/dL (2.8 mmol/L) or if LO (less than 10 mg/dL (0.6 mmol/L)) appears on the meter display, contact your healthcare provider as soon as possible. - If your test result is more than 250 mg/dL (13.9 mmol/L) or if HI (more than 600 mg/dL (33.3 mmol/L)) appears on the meter display, contact your healthcare provider as soon as possible. - Do not change your medication regimen based on your IRIS Evolution test result before consulting your healthcare provider. Questionable or Inconsistent Results: If your blood glucose result does not match how you feel:
- check the expiration date of the test strips used. Make sure that the test strip bottle has not been opened for more than 6 months;
- confirm that the temperature you are testing in is between 5°C and 45°C (41°F-113°F);
- make sure the test strip bottle has been closed correctly;
- make sure the test strips have been stored in a cool, dry place;
- make sure the test strip has been used immediately after removing it from the bottle;
- make sure you have followed the testing procedure correctly;
- perform a test using a control solution.
After checking all the above conditions, repeat the test with a new test strip. If the problem is not solved or you are not sure about the result, contact your local dealer.
Removing the used sterile lancet
Unscrew the lancing device cover. Place the safety tab of the lancet on a flat, hard surface; carefully insert the lancet needle into the safety tab.
Press the release button to ensure the lancing device is empty. Slide the eject button forward to eject the used lancet. Replace the lancing device cover onto the lancing device.
Always dispose of used lancets to prevent injury or contamination.
