Description
Medical device in powder form for the preparation of an oral suspension indicated for effective cleansing of the intestinal tract prior to endoscopic examinations or particular clinical conditions requiring complete cleansing and cleansing of the intestine.
Removal of the solid component present in the colon is essential for an accurate diagnosis during endoscopic examination.
Lovol-esse Duo contains polyethylene glycol 3350, an inert substance that is not absorbed by the intestine, does not irritate the mucosa, does not ferment, and is excreted unchanged from the digestive tract. Polyethylene glycol 3350 attracts a large amount of water, which softens the stool and stimulates natural intestinal peristalsis.
Furthermore, simethicone present in the formulation, thanks to its anti-foaming action, is effective in adsorbing gastrointestinal gas associated with constipation.
How to use
For a complete bowel cleansing, necessary to prepare for certain diagnostic tests (endoscopic or radiological examinations of the large intestine, abdominal ultrasounds) and in other clinical conditions, carefully follow the instructions provided by the center where the endoscopic examination is performed, which generally includes a controlled diet in the days preceding the examination.
To prepare the oral suspension extemporaneously, pour the contents of two sachets into one liter of water and shake well until smooth. The suspension should be drunk within 1-2 hours, preferably drinking 250 ml of suspension every 10-15 minutes.
Add 500 ml of water (half a litre) until you get a total of 1.5 L (1 litre of preparation and 500 ml of water).
After approximately 1 hour, repeat the preparation with the other 2 sachets in a litre of water and take as described above, until you have consumed 3 litres of suspension.
After taking the first liter, you will begin to feel bowel movements and the urge to evacuate. Your bowel movements will gradually become more liquid until you pass clear stools without any fecal residue. This indicates that the cleansing has been performed correctly and you are ready for the test. Taking the preparation is generally not accompanied by abdominal discomfort or pain.
Components
60 g polyethylene glycol 3.350 and 80 mg simethicone; excipients: silicon dioxide, flavoring, sodium saccharin.
Warnings
Lovol-esse Duo should not be administered in cases of:
- known hypersensitivity to the components of the product;
- intestinal stenosis or occlusion;
- dynamic ileus;
- acute or severe colitis;
- toxic megacolon;
- intestinal perforation;
- gastric stasis;
- chronic inflammatory bowel diseases such as ulcerative colitis and Crohn's disease;
- patients weighing less than 20 kg or under 2 years of age.
There are no reported experiences with its use during pregnancy and breastfeeding. Therefore, it is recommended to use Lovol-esse Duo only after consulting your doctor.
The product may reduce the intestinal residence time and therefore the absorption of concomitantly administered oral medications. Therefore, avoid taking them together: after taking a medication, wait at least 2 hours before taking Lovol-esse Duo.
If you are taking anticoagulants, antiplatelet drugs or diabetes medications, consult your doctor or the Endoscopy Center for a possible change in dosage.
The oral suspension must be prepared at the time of administration. If not taken immediately, the solution should be stored in the refrigerator and used within 24 hours of preparation.
Do not add any other ingredients to the reconstituted solution.
Simethicone may interfere with the effect of some reagents used in diagnostics, such as guaiac gum.
Before bowel movements, gastrointestinal disturbances, rumbling, abdominal pain, and nausea may occur. If these symptoms become severe, the product should be taken more slowly, which will reduce the symptoms. Hypersensitivity reactions occur rarely. Please inform your doctor or pharmacist if you notice any side effects other than those listed in this leaflet.
