IRENE 20 SACHETS OF 5 G
Irene
Description
Natural nutraceutical based on high-dose D-mannose and American cranberry useful in the prevention of recurrent urinary tract infections. Alterations in the functionality of the uro-vesical system, especially of the lower urinary tract, are particularly common in young women and in the peri- and post-menopausal period.
In many cases (such as cystitis, chronic cystitis and post-coital cystitis) these alterations are caused by normally non-pathogenic bacteria present in the intestinal microflora or in the vagina that find suitable conditions for adhesion to the urothelium and development in the urovesical tract. The bacteria that can determine the causes are different and among these the most frequent is Escherichia coli, responsible for approximately 90% of persistent or recurrent infections of the bladder or urethra.
In men, cystitis is often linked to chronic bacterial prostatitis but urinary tract obstructions, due to stones or prostatic hypertrophy, can also induce cystitis.
D-mannose, an absolutely harmless and natural substance, is not metabolized by the body and therefore, through urine, is largely eliminated as such.
Ingredients
Cranberry (Vaccinium macrocarpon Aiton, maltodextrin) berries tit. 1% proanthocyanidins, D-mannose; bulking agents: maltodextrin; flavouring; anti-caking agent: silicon dioxide; sweetener: sucralose.
Gluten free.
Naturally lactose free.
Nutritional characteristics
How to use
Take two sachets a day away from main meals. Dissolve the contents of one sachet in 100ml of water. It is best not to drink for an hour after taking the sachet.
After 45 minutes or an hour from taking it, drink abundantly and then urinate: in this way the mannose bound to the Coli is eliminated, having given the substance time to act. A basic urinary environment amplifies the effect of the product. It is recommended to use alkalizing foods of which some items are reported, by way of example, at the bottom of this leaflet. It is recommended to continue the treatment for a period of three to six months and in particular cases even for longer.
Treatment of acute cystitis: it is advisable to take one sachet every three hours, until the symptoms disappear, preferably after sending a urine culture. Then continue with the maintenance dosage.
Warnings
Keep out of reach of children under 3 years. Supplements are not intended as a substitute for a varied diet and a healthy lifestyle. For use during pregnancy and breastfeeding, consult your doctor.
In diseases that cause intestinal malabsorption such as Crohn's disease, celiac disease and intestinal parasitoses, the use of D-Mannose may be ineffective.
It is not contraindicated in diabetes mellitus (although it is advisable to periodically check blood sugar levels) nor in pediatric age (the dosage must however be adapted).
There are no known side effects, however new research has highlighted the fact that just as the E. Coli bacterium attacks tissue cells using mannose receptors, D-Mannose surrounds the sperm and prevents it from adhering to the egg. This means that with regular intake of Irene the probability of conception is reduced.
Cranberry increases clotting time so people taking anticoagulants should consult their doctor before taking it.
Conservation
Store in a cool, dry place, away from sunlight and direct heat. Do not exceed the recommended daily dose.
