ALLTEST DIPSTICK RAPID TEST SELF-DIAGNOSTIC SEMI-QUANTITATIVE DETERMINATION OF ALCOHOL IN SALIVA

ALLTEST

Description
A rapid, single-action screening test for the semi-quantitative determination of alcohol in saliva.
Qualified for legal purposes.
The Saliva Rapid Alcohol Test Strip is a rapid and highly sensitive method for determining the presence of alcohol in saliva and providing an approximate value of the relative concentration of alcohol in the blood.
This test provides only a preliminary screening. To obtain confirmation of the analytical result, a more specific alternative chemical method must be used. Clinical evaluation and professional opinion should be applied to the result of each test, especially when preliminary investigations are positive.
It has been found that the concentration of alcohol in saliva is comparable to that in blood. The rapid saliva breathalyzer test strip consists of a plastic test strip with a reactive pad positioned at the end. When in contact with alcohol solutions, the reactive pad will immediately change color, depending on the concentration of alcohol present in the blood. The reactive pad uses a solid-phase chemistry system that uses a highly specific enzymatic reaction.

How to use
Directions for use
Before testing, allow the test strip in the package to reach room temperature (15-30°C).
1. Avoid putting anything in your mouth for fifteen minutes before the test. This includes non-alcoholic beverages, tobacco products, coffee, breath mints, and food, etc.
2. Spit the saliva into the collection container.
3. Open the foil pouch and remove the test strip. Look at the test pad at the end of the strip. If the test pad is blue before applying the saliva sample, do not use it.
4. Saturate the reactive swab with saliva from the collection container or by applying saliva directly to the swab. (It usually takes 6-8 seconds for saturation.) Immediately after applying saliva, start the timer.
5. Read the result after two minutes. Compare the color of the test pad with the color chart on the foil package to determine the relative concentration of alcohol in the blood.

Interpretation of results
Positive: The rapid saliva breathalyzer test strip will change color if alcohol is present in the saliva. The color can range from light blue at a relative blood alcohol concentration of 0.02% to dark blue at a relative blood alcohol concentration of close to 0.30%. This range of pad colors provides an approximate reading of the relative blood alcohol concentration. The test may produce colors that appear to be between two adjacent colored pads.
NOTE: The Saliva Alcohol Rapid Test Strip is very sensitive to the presence of alcohol. A lighter blue color than the 0.02% colored pad should be interpreted as positive for the presence of alcohol in the saliva but with a relative blood alcohol concentration of less than 0.02%.
Negative: If the rapid saliva breathalyzer test strip shows no color change, this result should be interpreted as negative, indicating that no alcohol was detected.
Void: If the reactive swab is blue before applying the saliva sample, do not use it.
NOTE: If the outer edges of the colored swab produce a slight stain, but the majority of the swab remains colorless, the test should be repeated to ensure complete saturation of the swab with saliva. The test cannot be reused.

Precautions
The Rapid Saliva Alcohol Test Strip is a visual test that uses color matching to provide an approximate relative blood alcohol concentration. Test materials that have been exposed to saliva should be treated as potentially infectious. Do not use the Rapid Saliva Alcohol Test Strip after the expiration date printed on the foil package.

Restrictions
1. If you do not wait 15 minutes after eating, drinking or smoking before performing the test, you may get incorrect results, due to possible contamination of saliva with interfering substances.
2. The Rapid Saliva Breathalyzer Test Strip is very sensitive to the presence of alcohol. Alcohol vapors in the air can sometimes be detected by the Rapid Saliva Breathalyzer Test Strip. Alcohol vapors are present in many public buildings and homes. Alcohol is a component of many household products such as disinfectants, air fresheners, perfumes, and glass cleaners. If you suspect that alcohol vapors are present in the environment, it is recommended that you test in an area free of vapors.
3. Ingestion or use of over-the-counter medications and products containing alcohol may produce positive results.

Conservation
The Rapid Saliva Alcohol Test Strip should be stored at 2-30°C (36-86°F) in its sealed foil pouch. If the storage temperature is above 30°C, the test performance may be affected. If the product is refrigerated, the Rapid Saliva Alcohol Test Strip should be brought to room temperature before opening the pouch.
