RAPID TEST ALLTEST STRIP ALCOHOL DETECTION IN SALIVA
Alltest
Alcohol test
The rapid alcohol test (saliva) is a visually interpreted test that uses color matching to provide an approximation of the relative concentration of alcohol in the blood.
Test materials that have been exposed to saliva should be treated as potentially infectious.
How to use
Before carrying out the test, bring it to a temperature between 15°C and 30°C.
Avoid putting anything in your mouth for fifteen (15) minutes before the test begins. This includes soft drinks, tobacco products, coffee, breath mints, and food, etc.
Spit the saliva into the collection container.
Open the aluminum package and remove the test rod.
Observe the reactive pad at the end of the test rod.
If the reaction swab is blue in color before applying the saliva sample, do not use it.
Saturate the reactive swab with saliva collected from the collection container or by applying saliva directly to the swab (usually takes 6-8 seconds to saturate.).
Start the timer immediately after applying saliva.
Read the result after two (2) minutes.
Compare the color of the test pad to the color chart to determine your blood alcohol level.
Interpretation of results
Positive: The rapid alcohol test (saliva) will produce a color change if alcohol is present in the saliva.
The color will vary from light blue at a relative blood alcohol concentration of 0.02% to a dark blue color near 0.30% relative blood alcohol concentration.
Within this range, colored swabs are provided to allow an approximation of the relative concentration of alcohol in the blood.
The test may produce colors that appear to lie between adjacent colored pads.
The rapid alcohol test (saliva) is very sensitive to the presence of alcohol.
A lighter blue color than the 0.02% colored swab should be interpreted as positive for the presence of alcohol in the saliva but with a relative blood alcohol content of less than 0.02%.
Negative: When the rapid alcohol test (saliva) shows no color change, this should be interpreted as a negative result indicating that no alcohol was detected.
Invalid: If the colored swab shows a blue color before applying the saliva sample, do not use the test.
A result where the outer edges of the colored swab produce a slight color but most of the swab remains colorless, the test should be repeated to ensure complete saturation of the swab with saliva.
The test is not reusable.
Warnings
Failure to wait 15 minutes after putting food, drink, or other materials (including smoking) in your mouth before testing may produce erroneous results due to possible contamination of saliva by interfering substances.
The rapid alcohol test (saliva) is highly sensitive to the presence of alcohol.
Alcohol vapors in the air are sometimes detected by rapid alcohol testing (saliva).
Alcohol fumes are present in many institutions and homes.
Alcohol is a component of many household products such as disinfectants, deodorants, perfumes, and glass cleaners. If alcohol vapors are suspected, the test should be performed in a vapor-free area.
Ingestion or general use of over-the-counter medications and products containing alcohol may produce positive results.
Do not put anything in your mouth, including food, drinks, tobacco, or chewing gum for at least 10 minutes before taking the test.
Do not read the result after 10 minutes.
Keep the test out of the reach of children.
