ThermoDiary EAR

Infrared ear thermometer

Description
The infrared ear thermometer measures the infrared heat generated by the eardrum and surrounding tissue to reflect the patient's body temperature.
User for whom this product is intended: minimum 11 years of age (5 years of intensive reading experience), no upper limit.
This thermometer converts ear temperature into “oral equivalent” value (according to the result of clinical evaluation to obtain the offset value).

How to use
It is recommended to measure 3 times in the same ear. If the 3 measurements are different, select the highest temperature.
Before measurement, stay in a stable environment for 5 minutes and avoid physical activity and bathing for 30 minutes.
In healthy people, temperature varies: between different parts of the body it can vary between 0.2 and 1°C. The "clinical bias" is between -0.5 and -0.7°C. The "limits of agreement" are 1.02. The "repeatability" is 0.19°C.

Turn on the device and take readings
Press the “ON/MEM” button, the thermometer is ready to use when the icon stops flashing and you hear two short beeps. Measuring ear temperature: Gently pull your ear back to straighten the ear canal and carefully place the probe inside the ear canal. Aim towards the eardrum to get the most accurate reading possible. For children under two years old, gently pull your ear back. For children over two years old and adults, gently pull your ear up and back.
Press and hold the "MEASURE" button until you hear a beep. Remove the probe from your ear and read the temperature measurement on the display.
For subsequent measurements: After two short beeps, the icon stops flashing and you are ready for the next measurement.

Connect the thermometer with your smartphone
Download the free PIC HEALTH STATION app from Google Play and AppStore. Launch the PIC HEALTH STATION app on your smartphone. Bluetooth v. 4.0 will start automatically. Make sure the thermometer is turned on. Search for the thermometer with PIC HEALTH STATION and connect it to your smartphone. During pairing, only the smartphone to be connected with the thermometer can activate PIC HEALTH STATION. If you have any problems with pairing, make sure PIC HEALTH STATION is not running with another smartphone, or restart your smartphone. Please note that the thermometer only sends temperature data when it is connected with your smartphone. Each temperature reading will be automatically transferred to your mobile device.

After the measurement
The device will automatically turn off when left idle for more than 1 minute to conserve battery life.
Clean the probe after each use to ensure accurate readings and avoid cross-contamination.
Remember to put the cap on the probe when not in use.

Functions
- Fever Indication: If the thermometer detects a body temperature ≥37.5°C (99.5°F), the "red" light signal will appear. At the same time, a long beep will be heard followed by three short beeps to warn the user of potential fever; if the temperature <37.5°C, the "green" light signal will appear.
WARNING: Red light - suggests constant monitoring of body temperature. Consult your doctor if you have any concerns about the health condition of the person being monitored.

- Memory: There are a total of 25 body temperature measurements in memory. After turning on the device, press the “ON/MEM” button to view the stored temperatures. The data stored in the thermometer's memory is not sent to the application.

- °C/°F switching: In “Off” mode, press and hold the “MEASURE” button, then immediately press and release the “ON/MEM” button. After 3 seconds, the “°C” icon will be switched to the “°F” icon. (To return to “°C”, repeat the operation.)

- Silent Mode: By default, the beep is on. You can enable/disable the beep in silent mode. With the device turned on, press and hold the “ON/MEM” button for 3 seconds. The icon will flash on the LCD display. Release the “ON/MEM” button to activate silent mode. From now on, you will not hear any beep. Repeat the operation to deactivate silent mode.
NOTE: If you continue to press the “ON/MEM” button for 5 seconds once the silent icon appears, the unit will turn off without setting the silent mode.

Changing the battery
Lift the rubber gasket on the battery cover with a small Phillips screwdriver. Loosen the screw on the battery cover. Use your thumb to lift the battery cover. Hold the device and pull out the battery using the screwdriver. Replace the new battery under the metal hook on the left side, then press the right side of the battery until you hear a click. Replace the battery cover and tighten the screw, inserting the rubber gasket into the space around it.

Care and maintenance
The probe is the most delicate part of the thermometer. Handle it with care when cleaning the lens to avoid damage.
After measurement, use a cotton swab soaked in alcohol (70% concentration) to clean the lens (inside the probe). Allow the probe to dry completely for at least one minute. Keep the device dry and away from liquids and direct sunlight.
Do not immerse the probe in any liquid.
Note: Check the device for damage if dropped. If you are unsure how to check this, take the complete device to your nearest dealer for possible recalibration.

Warnings
Do not use this device in serious risk situations or safety related applications. If in doubt or if your body temperature increases, consult a doctor.
The thermometer tends to compensate for the ear temperature readings based on room temperatures. To get the most accurate reading possible, the thermometer should be left in the room where it will be used, at a stable room temperature, for at least 15 minutes before use. It is recommended that the person whose temperature will be taken also stay in the same room for at least 5 minutes before taking the reading. When taking a temperature, make sure that the patient and the thermometer are not exposed to direct heat, sunlight or air conditioning.
Before taking a reading, check that the ear canal is clean and accessible; do not clean the ear immediately before using the probe as the use of hot or cold water will affect the reading.
Do not measure body temperature for at least thirty minutes after physical exertion, bathing or after a meal.
Always make sure the probe is clean and undamaged.
This device contains batteries and small parts that may present a choking hazard if accidentally swallowed by small children or pets. Keep such parts out of reach of children.
If you hold the thermometer in your hand for too long, the probe may read a higher ambient temperature. This may result in a lower than usual body temperature reading.
Do not immerse the appliance in any liquid or expose it to direct humidity.
There are no age or gender restrictions for using this infrared thermometer.
Not AP/APG, therefore the product is not suitable for use in the presence of flammable or explosive anaesthetic mixtures, oxygen, nitrous oxide.

Conservation
Store the device at an ambient temperature between -20°C and +50°C and at a relative humidity (RH) of 85%.
