Description
Aqueous dressing for topical use containing Silver Sulfadiazine at a concentration of 1%. The product remains easily “in situ” and is not affected by stretching of the wound edges. It can be easily removed by cleaning the lesion with saline solution.
Local treatment of skin lesions such as: abrasions, grazes, cuts, wounds, skin irritations and dermatological conditions in general. It can be used as a moisturizer to keep the wound bed moist and prevent infections or as a cleanser to remove non-vital fragments and fibrin accumulations.
The gel with a high water content (over 95%), promotes the debridement of fibrinous and necrotic lesions, facilitates the tissue repair process and creates a barrier to external contaminants, thanks to the presence of silver. The presence of silver sulfadiazine, an organometallic compound obtained by the reaction of silver nitrate with sulfadiazine, prevents microbial contamination of the dressing and keeps the wound environment free from other exogenous bacteria. The particular gel formulation creates an environment that facilitates the natural healing process and provides an effective barrier to microbial penetration.
How to use
After proper cleansing of the lesion, apply a uniform layer of gel 2 or 3 mm thick to the affected surfaces. The gel can be applied either directly to the lesions or previously spread on a sterile gauze to obtain a hydrating effect or on a polyurethane or semi-occlusive dressing as a cleanser. The application of the GEL must continue without interruption once or twice a day, as long as there is a possibility of infection and until complete healing, both in spontaneous and surgical repairs. At each reapplication, thoroughly cleanse the lesions with water or saline solution.
Components
Purified water, glycerol, carbopol 974P, sodium hydroxide, micronized silver sulfadiazine.
Warnings
Patients with known individual hypersensitivity to the components of the product.
It is recommended not to use the product for more than 4 weeks. Consult your doctor in case of incomplete healing or if unwanted symptoms arise. In case of accidental ingestion, consult your doctor. The gel may tend to become brown if left exposed to light, due to the silver ion present in the formulation. However, this phenomenon does not compromise its effectiveness and safety. Do not apply the product together with liquid or solid disinfectants. Close the tube after each application. In pregnant women and in early childhood, use the product after consulting your doctor. The gel should be used to treat small lesions only. The product is not for ophthalmic use.
Transient burning or irritation sensations may occur, without consequences, and rare local allergic reactions. If side effects occur, consult your doctor or pharmacist.
Conservation
Store below 30 °C. Do not use the product beyond the expiry date indicated on the package. This date refers to the product in intact packaging correctly stored. Do not dispose of the container in the environment after use.
Validity with intact packaging: 36 months.
