SOFARGEN GEL DRESSING TUBE 25 G
SOFARGEN
gel
Description
Water-based topical dressing containing 1% Silver Sulfadiazine. The product stays easily "in situ" and is not affected by the stretching of the wound edges. It can be easily removed by cleaning the lesion with physiological saline solution.
Local treatment of skin lesions such as: abrasions, excoriations, cuts, wounds, skin irritations and dermatological conditions in general. It can be used as a moisturizer to keep the wound bed moist and prevent infections or as a cleansing agent to remove non-viable fragments and fibrin accumulation.
The gel, with its high water content (over 95%), promotes the debridement of fibrinous and necrotic lesions, facilitates the tissue repair process, and creates a barrier against external contaminants, thanks to the presence of silver. The presence of silver sulfadiazine, an organometallic compound obtained by the reaction of silver nitrate with sulfadiazine, prevents microbial contamination of the dressing and keeps the wound environment free from other exogenous bacteria. The particular gel formulation creates an environment that facilitates the natural healing process and provides an effective barrier against microbial penetration.
Instructions for use
After appropriate cleansing of the lesion, apply a uniform layer of gel 2 or 3 mm thick to the affected surfaces. The gel can be applied directly to the lesions, or spread beforehand on a sterile gauze to achieve the moisturizing effect, or on a polyurethane or semi-occlusive dressing as a cleansing agent. Gel application should continue without interruption once or twice a day, as long as there is a possibility of infection and until complete healing, both for spontaneous and surgical repairs. With each new application, carefully cleanse the lesions with water or physiological saline solution.
Components
Purified water, glycerol, carbopol 974P, sodium hydroxide, micronized silver sulfadiazine.
Warnings
Patients with known individual hypersensitivity to the product components.
It is advisable not to use the product for more than 4 weeks. Consult a doctor in case of incomplete healing or if undesirable symptoms occur. In case of accidental ingestion, consult a doctor. The gel may tend to turn brown if exposed to light, due to the silver ion present in the formulation. However, this phenomenon does not compromise its effectiveness and safety. Do not apply the product together with liquid or solid disinfectants. Close the tube after each application. In pregnant women and young children, use the product after consulting a doctor. The gel should only be used to treat small lesions. The product is not for ophthalmic use.
Transient burning or irritation sensations may occur, without consequences, and rare local allergic reactions. Should undesirable effects occur, consult a doctor or pharmacist.
Storage
Store at a temperature below 30 °C. Do not use the product beyond the expiry date indicated on the packaging. This date refers to the product in intact packaging, correctly stored. Do not dispose of the container in the environment after use.
