Food supplement based on probiotics for the balance of intestinal flora.
VSL3 is a proprietary blend of live, freeze-dried lactic acid bacteria and bifidobacteria. Eight different strains of bacteria have been selected, grown in specific culture media, and then mixed in proportions to optimize the functionality of the product.
Each sachet of VSL#3 contains 450 billion viable bacterial cells, an amount that helps re-establish the lactic and bifida bacterial flora of the intestine.
Ingredients
Maltose; mixture of live lactic acid bacteria and bifidobacteria: Streptococcus thermophilus BT01, Bifidobacterium breve BB02, Bifidobacterium longum * BL03, Bifidobacterium infantis * BI04, Lactobacillus acidophilus BA05, Lactobacillus plantarum BP06, Lactobacillus paracasei BP07, Lactobacillus delbrueckii subsp. bulgaricus ** BD08; corn starch; anti-caking agent: silicon dioxide.
Without colorants, preservatives and synthetic sweeteners.
Contains no soy allergens or milk proteins.
*Recently reclassified as Bifidobacterium animalis subsp. lactis .
**Recently reclassified as Lactobacillus helveticus .
Gluten- free and lactose- free.
How to use
Adults: 1-2 sachets throughout the day.
Children: Consult your doctor for the correct dosage.
The contents of the sachet should be mixed in a glass of water or any other drink, not hot and not carbonated, and should be ingested immediately. Alternatively, it can be taken together with yogurt, ice cream or fruit juice and ingested immediately. It should not be mixed with hot foods or drinks because the high temperature inactivates the bacteria.
Warnings
Keep out of reach of children under three years of age. Do not exceed the recommended daily dose. The product, as a food supplement, should not be considered a substitute for a varied and balanced diet and a healthy lifestyle.
The product contains live lactic acid bacteria and bifidobacteria, sensitive to heat: it is therefore recommended to avoid exposure to heat sources or sudden changes in temperature, to store it in a dry place, away from light and at a refrigerated temperature.
There are no reported side effects due to ingestion. In some cases, abdominal swelling may occur in the first few days of taking the product, especially if the diet is rich in carbohydrates and fats. This effect is transitory.
Conservation
It must be kept at a refrigerated temperature (2°- 8°C) and away from light.
The product can however be stored for a week at room temperature (maximum: 25°C) without undergoing significant alterations in the number of viable bacteria. The minimum shelf life indicated on the packaging refers to the product correctly stored, in intact packaging.
