Prontosan

Class III CE medical device, wound cleansing solution, with polyhexanide and betaine for cleaning and decontaminating wounds with biofilm. Penetrates the biofilm and dissolves the plaque.
Ready-to-use solution with polyhexanide and betaine cleanses and moistens acute and chronic wounds as well as 1st and 2nd degree burns. Dissolves fibrin plaques while preserving tissues, breaks down biofilms, prevents biofilm reformation, and removes dressing residues. Ideal for wound bed preparation, does not interfere with granulation and epithelialization, and has high cellular and tissue tolerance. Indicated for repeated and long-term use. Painless application.

Components
0.1% polyhexanide; 0.1% betaine; 99.8% purified water; glycerol, hydroxyethylcellulose.

Contraindications
- Known or suspected allergies.
- Do not use in the CNS and meninges, middle and inner ear, and eyes.
- Use on hyaline cartilage and in aseptic joint surgeries.
- Do not mix with other soaps, ointments, oils, enzymes, etc. for wound cleansing.

Instructions for use
Use for irrigation directly from the bottle, or for the wet-to-dry phase.
- Heat to body temperature (e.g., in a bottle warmer).
- For the wet-to-dry phase, apply the generously moistened gauze pad onto and beyond the wound edges.
- Compatible with most commercially available wound dressings (exception: maggots).
- Also suitable for infected wounds.
- Recommended for use in V.A.C. Instill Therapy.
