Biatain Alginate
CE medical device.Biatain Alginate can be used on all moderately to highly exuding wounds, including leg ulcers, pressure ulcers, diabetic foot ulcers, donor sites and traumatic wounds. Biatain Alginate should not be used on dry wounds or to control heavy bleeding. Biatain Alginate is a highly absorbent alginate dressing for moderately to highly exuding wounds of all sizes, shapes and depths. Biatain Alginate has Superior Absorption compared to other alginate and hydrofibre dressings.
Ideal for filling cavity lesions
The dressing's design and structural integrity allow it to be cut to fit any size, shape or depth of wound. The dressing conforms to the wound bed, fulfilling an important aspect of the healing process.

The unique integrity of the dressing allows for one-piece removal.
Minimizes the risk of leaks and maceration
Biatain Alginate's superior absorbency locks exudate within the dressing, preventing leakage that can damage the surrounding skin.
Documented haemostatic effect
Unlike hydrofiber dressings, alginate dressings have a haemostatic effect, i.e. the ability to stop the flow of blood in cases of minor bleeding, thanks to the release of calcium ions from the dressing.
Mode of action
Upon contact with wound exudate, Biatain Alginate transforms into a soft, cohesive gel that creates the optimal moist environment for healing.
Composition
Biatain Alginate is an alginate dressing composed of 85% calcium alginate and 15% carboxymethylcellulose (CMC).
