Description

BIATAIN POLYURETHANE FOAM DRESSING WITH HYDROCOLLOID AND ADHESIVE EDGE 15X15 CM 5 PIECES

Biatain Adhesive

Description
Adhesive foam dressing, with enhanced adhesion.
The product is a sterile, disposable polyurethane foam dressing with a hydrocolloid adhesive border.
The product is indicated for wound healing in a moist environment and for the management of exudate.
The product is intended for use by healthcare professionals or by patients under the supervision of healthcare professionals.
It is indicated for a wide range of low to high exuding wounds. This includes acute wounds such as second degree burns, donor sites, post-operative wounds and traumatic wounds, as well as chronic wounds such as leg ulcers and pressure ulcers.
May be used on patients being treated for a local or systemic infection, at the discretion of the healthcare professional. May be used throughout the healing process to provide protection for indicated wound types. May be left in place for up to 7 days depending on the amount of exudate, condition of the dressing and type of wound. Suitable for use in conjunction with compression therapy. May be used in conjunction with Purilon gel for effective autolytic debridement of necrotic tissue. May be left in place during showering. Suitable for use on patients requiring increased adhesion to hold the dressing in place.
The product is composed of:
-a top film that promotes breathability, but is impermeable to water and bacteria;
-a hydrocolloid adhesive;
-an absorbent pad made of polyurethane foam;
-protective films.
Sterilized by irradiation (R).

How to use
Preparation:
Cleanse the wound and surrounding skin according to local guidelines, e.g. saline. Gently dry the surrounding skin. If using barrier films, creams, ointments or similar products, allow the surrounding skin to dry before applying the product.
Application:
Choose the product whose foam pad exceeds the edge of the lesion by at least 1-2 cm. Remove the product from the package. Make sure to maintain aseptic use during application. Use protective films to avoid touching the unprinted side of the foam and adhesive. Partially remove the protective films. Apply the foam dressing with the unprinted side facing the lesion. Gently remove your fingers on the edge of the product to ensure that it adheres to the skin in a homogeneous and regular manner.
Removal:
The product should be replaced when clinically indicated, when visible traces of exudate approach the edge of the foam pad or after 7 days. Loosen the adhesive edge, gently lift it and finally remove the wound product. If the product is difficult to remove, moisten it with saline solution until it comes off easily.
Disposal:
The product is for single use only and must be disposed of in accordance with local guidelines, for example in household waste.

Warnings
Infected lesions and lesions entirely or partially caused by arterial insufficiency should be examined frequently and managed by a healthcare professional according to local guidelines.
To avoid possible allergic reactions, the product should not be used on patients with known sensitivity to carboxymethylcellulose (CMC).
Do not use the product with oxidizing solutions, such as hypochlorite or hydrogen peroxide solutions, as this may cause degradation of the product, resulting in worsening of the lesion. Ensure that any other evaporating solution used has completely dried before applying the product.
The use of the product combined with detergents other than saline solution has not been tested.
The product is single use only, do not reuse due to the risk of cross contamination which could potentially cause infection.
Recycling, washing, disinfection and/or resterilization may compromise the characteristics of the product, causing a further risk of harm or infection to the user.
Do not use if the package is damaged, as the sterility of the product may be compromised and potentially cause infection.
Possible side effects associated with the use of dressings may include: skin irritation/inflammation, allergic skin reaction, maceration, pain, excessive granulation tissue formation and blistering.
If a serious incident occurs during or as a result of using this product, please report it to the manufacturer and the relevant national authority.
