Description
Medical device with laxative action, indicated for the symptomatic treatment of constipation.
It promotes peristalsis, helping to achieve adequate bowel evacuation, thus counteracting constipation and preventing the formation of faecalomas.
It also facilitates the elimination of intestinal gases, reducing the feeling of bloating and abdominal distension.
Macrogol is an inert, water-soluble, high molecular weight polymer that has the ability to bind to the water used for ingestion, retaining it in the faeces. It causes rehydration and softening of the faecal mass and facilitates its evacuation. It accelerates intestinal transit by promoting peristalsis. It is not absorbed or metabolised in the gastrointestinal tract and does not lead to hydro-electrolytic imbalances, if taken with the indicated dose of liquid.
Simethicone is a substance that has the ability to decrease the surface tension of gas bubbles present in the gastrointestinal tract, facilitating their expulsion.

Instructions for use
Use the measuring spoon included in the package to dose the powder: fill it level and not pressed, then remove any excess product with the blade of a knife.

Children aged between 6 months and 12 years (adults/children ≤43 kg)
- from 6-10 kg: 1 level scoop per day;
- from 10-15 kg: 1-2 level scoops per day;
- from 16-20 kg: 2-3 level scoops per day;
- from 21-43 kg: 3-4 level scoops per day.
The dose should be increased or decreased, depending on the individual response to treatment, to allow for regular evacuation of soft stools.
The maximum necessary dose does not normally exceed 4 scoops per day.
Dissolve the powder in water or other liquid (50 ml for each scoop) and take immediately. It is advisable to administer the product in the morning if 1 scoop per day is to be taken. For larger doses, divide the intake between morning and evening.

Adults and children over 12 years of age (>43 kg)
- from 2 to 10 level scoops per day.
The dose should be increased or decreased, depending on the individual response to treatment, to allow for regular evacuation of soft stools.
The maximum necessary dose does not normally exceed 10 scoops per day.
Dissolve the powder in water or other liquid (50 ml for each scoop) and take immediately. It is advisable to administer the product in the morning if the minimum dose (2 scoops per day) is to be taken. For larger doses, divide the intake between morning and evening.

Warnings
It is advisable to use the product in paediatric age after consulting a doctor. Administration in children must be carried out under the direct supervision of an adult.
Consult your doctor before use during pregnancy and breastfeeding.
Do not use after the expiry date indicated on the package.
Do not use if the package is open or damaged.
Do not exceed the maximum daily dose.
Keep the product or the solution obtained out of the reach of children.
If no improvement is observed after 7 days of treatment, it is advisable to consult a doctor.
The product may reduce the residence time in the intestine and therefore the absorption of oral medicines. It is therefore advisable to consult a doctor in case of concomitant intake of oral medicines, which must in any case be administered at least 2 hours apart.
In case of undesirable reactions, even if different from those listed, discontinue treatment and consult your doctor. Some gastrointestinal disorders (abdominal pain, flatulence, abdominal bloating, nausea and faecal incontinence) may occur. Diarrhoea is a side effect of taking excessive doses of Dicopeg esse and can be avoided by reducing the dose. Cases of hypersensitivity reactions (skin rash) following the use of macrogol-containing products have been reported rarely. In this case, discontinue treatment and consult your doctor.
Do not take Dicopeg esse in case of known hypersensitivity to macrogol or other components, perforation, intestinal obstruction or stenosis, paralytic ileus, severe inflammatory diseases of the intestinal tract such as Crohn's disease, ulcerative colitis and toxic megacolon.
The use of laxatives is contraindicated in case of acute or unknown abdominal pain, nausea and vomiting, rectal bleeding of unknown origin and in case of severe dehydration.

Storage
Store in a cool, dry place, away from light and heat sources.
The indicated expiry date refers to the product correctly stored in an intact package.
Shelf life unopened: 24 months.
Shelf life after opening: 3 months.
