Fluid ointment for topical application containing hyaluronic acid sodium salt from bacterial fermentation, as the main component, and bacterial collagenase obtained from Vibrio alginolyticus as an incorporated medicinal substance. As part of the wound bed preparation phase, Bionect Start promotes the healing process and protects the newly formed tissue thanks to the moisturizing action of hyaluronic acid. In fact, the wound healing process occurs more quickly in a moist environment. Bacterial collagenase promotes the preparation of the wound bed.
Indicated for the local treatment of chronic ulcers with necrotic or fibrinous tissue (i.e. bedsores, vascular leg ulcers, diabetic ulcers), of which it promotes debridement. In particular, it is indicated to provide an optimal moist environment and preparation of the wound bed that facilitate the natural healing process.

Components
Main component: hyaluronic acid sodium salt 0.2%. Other components: collagenase (not less than 2.0 nkat/g of ointment ¹ ), light liquid paraffin, white petrolatum.

How to use
Wounds should be cleaned and disinfected prior to application. To ensure successful treatment, there must be sufficient moisture on the wound area. Dry wounds should be moistened with saline (0.9% NaCl) or tissue-tolerated solutions such as glucose solution. Hard escars should be softened by applying a moist dressing. Apply a layer of approximately 2 mm of BIONECT® START to the wound once daily or as directed by the healthcare professional. Cover the treated area with a sterile bandage to ensure adequate contact.

Pregnancy and breastfeeding
Bionect Start can be used during pregnancy and breastfeeding as directed by your doctor.

Contraindications
Bionect Start should not be used in patients with known individual hypersensitivity to any component of the product.

Warnings and precautions
It is recommended not to extend the use of the product beyond 30 days. In case of obvious signs of infection, consult your doctor for the possible institution of a treatment with antibiotics. Tetracyclines should not be used locally with Bionect Start. Do not use the product together with soaps/detergents, disinfectants based on quaternary ammonium salts, silver and other heavy metals, which can reduce its action. If necessary, ask your pharmacist or doctor which products to use. Do not use on exposed cartilage and tendon tissue. Avoid contact with eyes and mucous membranes. In case of accidental ingestion or inhalation, consult your doctor immediately. Avoid direct contact of the container with the wound. Close the container after each application. Keep the product out of the reach of children.

Side effects
Local side effects such as pain, itching, burning and erythema may occur. Systemic side effects cannot be excluded in patients with known hypersensitivity to the components of the product.

Conservation
Store at a temperature not exceeding 30°C.
Do not use if the package is damaged. The product can be used up to 36 months after first opening the tube. Do not use the product after the expiry date shown on the package. The expiry date refers to the product stored correctly. After use, dispose of in accordance with current national regulations.
