Triple reading glasses, made with aspherical lenses and flexible hypoallergenic metal temples.
The focal centers of both lenses are aligned on the same axis and the interpupillary distance is between 58 and 64 mm. The diopters of the two lenses have the exact same dioptric power. In order to correctly assess the extent and nature of a visual defect, a preliminary eye examination by a qualified professional is necessary. Pre-assembled glasses for presbyopia, industrially manufactured with lenses of identical dioptric power, are intended exclusively for the correction of "simple presbyopia". Presbyopia is characterized by a physiological and progressive weakening of vision that generally manifests after the age of 45 with a series of problems such as difficulty reading a newspaper or clearly distinguishing small objects up close. Presbyopia is considered simple when, for the correction of the visual defect, both eyes require the same number of corrective diopters (diopters are the unit of measurement of visual acuity). Pre-assembled glasses are only suitable for near vision and should not be used for driving, for distance vision, or for eye protection. Improper use or the use of an incorrect diopter strength of glasses can cause various vision problems, with possible headaches. In such cases, an eye examination is necessary. Only an ophthalmologist can assess the health of the eyes and the extent of visual disturbances. Pre-assembled glasses for presbyopia do not improve vision in cases of eye diseases, such as cataracts or macular degeneration. Pre-assembled glasses for presbyopia should not be used in cases of "complex presbyopia", i.e., in the presence of astigmatism or anisometropia, or when the number of diopters in each eye is different. Astigmatism is a vision defect due to irregular curvature of the cornea, which results in blurred and distorted images, while anisometropia is characterized by a different refractive error in the two eyes.
