Lacriben Gel
Description
Transparent liquid ocular gel based on a high molecular weight hydrophilic polymer of carboxyvinyl acid (Carbopol 980 NF polymer) with mucoadhesive properties. This gel is designed to spread quickly across the cornea to reduce friction and lubricate. The pH and osmolarity are similar to those of the normal tear film.
The carbomer is a viscoelastic polymer of acrylic acid with a gelatinous structure that binds water. It has the ability to hydrate the epithelial surface and provide structure to the aqueous phase of the tear film similarly to natural mucin.
In particular, in contact with the eye, the gelatinous structure is degraded by the electrolytes contained in the aqueous layer, releasing water to increase the layer. The carbomer also has excellent mucoadhesive properties that contribute to the prolonged residence time in the eyes.
Lacriben gel compensates for tear insufficiency, alleviates symptoms of irritation resulting from dry eye syndrome, and protects the cornea from dryness.
Lacriben gel forms a lubricating film with a prolonged contact time: the gel remains on the ocular surface longer than artificial tears, which have low viscosity, thus requiring fewer applications.
Lacriben gel has a moisturizing and lubricating action on the ocular surface and provides temporary relief from burning and irritation.
Lacriben gel can also be used by contact lens wearers. Administer before wearing contact lenses.
Instructions for use
Detach a single dose and open it by twisting and pulling off the cap.
Instill 1 drop in each eye by gently pressing the single dose.
After use, immediately close the single dose; the contents can be reused within 12 hours of the first opening.
Also indicated for frequent use, several times a day (3 or 4 times or more if necessary) depending on the severity of the condition or the doctor's indications.
Components
Carbomer (Carbopol 980 NF polymer), sorbitol (Neosorb P20/6), sodium chloride, sodium hydroxide 1N, water for injection preparations.
Warnings
The product is for ophthalmic use only.
The product is single-patient.
Do not use the product if the container is damaged or not perfectly closed at the time of first opening.
During application, do not touch the eye or any other surface with the dispensing tip of the container.
Do not use in case of known incompatibility with any component of the preparation.
In case of discomfort during use, discontinue treatment and consult a doctor.
Do not use the product after the expiration date indicated.
Do not dispose of the container in the environment after use.
In rare cases, temporary blurred vision may occur due to the viscosity of the gel. It is therefore recommended to wait a few seconds before engaging in any activities that require clear vision.
Like other eye drops, there is a slight possibility that the product may occasionally cause mild eye irritation or burning or itching, but this usually passes quickly.
Storage
Store at a temperature between 2 °C and 30 °C.
The contents can be reused within 12 hours after the first opening.
