Description
Medical device based on Macrogol 4,000 indicated for the treatment of chronic constipation; treatment of fecaloma; treatment of constipation with episodic or chronic colic.
Product with laxative action that, thanks to the osmotic mechanism, regulates intestinal functions. It is not absorbed, nor ferments in the intestine, does not irritate the mucosa and is eliminated in the feces in an unchanged form. In fact, thanks to its affinity for water, Macrostip sachets softens the feces, facilitating evacuation. Its action does not decrease over time.
Ingredients
One 10 g sachet of powder contains Macrogol 4,000 10 g.
Without lactose , gluten , preservatives, flavourings.
How to use
Adults, elderly and children aged 12 years and over: 1 full-dose sachet (10 g) 1-3 times a day. Open the sachet along the dotted line and dilute the contents in 125 ml (about 1 glass of still water). In case of prolonged use, the dose can be reduced to 1-2 sachets per day.
Children 7 to 11 years: half a sachet (5 g) twice a day. Dilute the contents in 62.5 ml (about half a glass of still water).
Children 3 to 6 years: half a sachet (5 g) once a day. Dilute the contents in 62.5 ml (about half a glass of still water).
Dissolve the contents in a glass of water (125 ml). Drink the reconstituted solution. It is possible to divide the daily dose into several administrations. It is recommended to take Macrostip sachets away from meals.
Warnings
Do not take in case of known hypersensitivity to the raw materials, gastrointestinal perforation and/or obstruction, known gastric or intestinal lesions, severe inflammatory diseases of the gastrointestinal tract such as Crohn's disease, ulcerative colitis and toxic megacolon.
It is advisable to take the product at least 2 hours after taking drugs administered orally, since the osmotic power of macrogol and the increase in gastrointestinal transit speed induced may negatively affect their action. However, consult your doctor before taking Macrostip sachets if you are undergoing other therapies. Macrostip sachets may potentially interact if used with starch-based food thickeners. The macrogol ingredient counteracts the thickening effect of starch, thereby liquefying preparations that must remain dense for people with swallowing problems.
While taking it, side effects such as indigestion, stomach pain or rumbling, bloating, flatulence, nausea, vomiting, anal irritation and mild diarrhea may occur. These effects improve by reducing the dose. In case of allergic reactions, stop taking it and contact your doctor. If you experience any side effects, inform your doctor or pharmacist.
Keep out of the reach and sight of children. During pregnancy and breastfeeding consult your doctor before taking the product. Use in children under 12 years of age should preferably take place under medical supervision. Do not use Macrostip sachets for more than 30 consecutive days, if symptoms persist consult your doctor. Avoid contact with eyes. Do not use if the package is damaged. Treatment of fecaloma requires the intervention of a preventive opinion from a doctor.
Conservation
Store the device tightly closed in a cool, dry place, away from light and heat.
