MEDICATED GAUZE BACTIGRAS WITH CHLORHEXIDINE ACETATE 0.5% 10X10CM 10 PIECES
Bactigras gauze
CE medical device.Gauze soaked in Paraffin with Chlorhexidine Acetate; sterile (sterilized by gamma rays), single use. Packaged in a single peel-open bag.
Bactigras is for topical use only.
It is indicated for a wide range of wounds where there is a risk of infection, or on already infected wounds, in combination with a systemic antibiotic.
The range of wounds on which Bactigras can be used includes:
- minor burns and scalds,
- lacerations, abrasions and wounds with loss of substance,
- areas of skin collection and grafting,
- lower limb ulcers.
Bactigras acts as a barrier between the wound and the secondary dressing, allowing exudate to pass into the absorbent secondary dressing.
The antiseptic Chlorhexidine acetate is slowly released from the dressing, providing long-lasting action against Gram-negative and Gram-positive bacteria.
How to use
1) Clean the wound using standard technique.
2) Select the correct dressing size and open the pouch.
3) Using gloves and tongs, remove the protective paper.
4) Place the dressing on the wound in a single layer, in direct contact with the surface of the wound.
5) Apply a secondary absorbent dressing if necessary and secure with a self-adherent bandage (e.g. Easifix) or plaster (e.g. Hypafix).
6) Removal. Bactigras can be left in situ (in its appropriate location) when the secondary dressing is changed. The frequency of dressing changes depends on the clinical condition of the wound and varies from once a day to twice a week.
7) If the dressing sticks to the wound, lightly soak it in sterile solution.
Components
Cotton gauze impregnated with white paraffin containing 0.5% chlorhexidine acetate.
Precautions for use
Bactigras should not be used on more than 10% of the total body area.
It should also not be used in cases of sensitivity or allergy to chlorhexidine.
Avoid contact with eyes, middle ear, meninges and brain.
Bactigras is not compatible with soaps or other anionic substances (e.g. some skin cleansers) as well as potassium iodide.
Avoid using Bactigras with oxidizing substances (e.g. Eusol, hydrogen peroxide and iodine solution).
Do not use contents if package is opened or damaged.
Conservation
